The authorities of both Mission Hostels are desirous of extending their accommodation, and for that purpose St. John's is seeking to raise $90,000 and Morrison $60,000. The appeals on their behalf have been kept back in order to be incorporated with the present appeal and both appeals have the warm support of the University authori- ties.
For students of European origin belong. ing to families resident in the Far East and for students whose manner of life is European the exist- ing hostels do not pretend to cater, and it has been represented to the University authorities that a bostel adapted to the requirements of such students would increase the usefulness of the University, Such a scheme would have the entire approval of the University authorities, were money forthcoming,
Finally, for women students, whose right to admission to the University was first recognised in 1921, no hostel is yet available, although the authori ties of St. Stephen's Girls College have very kindly offered to make temporary provision for them. Preparation for admission to the University has involved some modification of the curriculum of the girls' schools in the Colony: but so soon as the number of women students becomes appreciable, the provision of hostel accommodation for them night suitably engage the attention of those interested in the education of women.
